Danielle Rowe promoted to principal in Houston

On stage last Friday night, the Houston Ballet’s Danielle Rowe was promoted to principal dancer. The former Australian Ballet principal had been a first soloist at Houston Ballet which she joined in January this year along with her partner, Luke Ingham.

Rowe was a principal with the Australian Ballet from June 2008 until her departure at the end of last year.

Houston Ballet’s artistic director, Australian Stanton Welch, said “Danielle is a beautiful dancer with natural talent whom I’ve had the pleasure to work with for many years. I have watched her develop from a corps de ballet member to a principal in Australia.

“I created Carabosse on her in The Sleeping Beauty as well as a featured role in the original Velocity. She always delivers an interesting and exciting performance because she is a dynamic and diverse dancer who knows how to tell a story.”
