Royal NZ Ballet’s new appointments

The Royal New Zealand Ballet today announced the appointment of Martin Vedel as ballet master.

Vedel, who will join the company next week, will replace Greg Horsman who is now ballet master at the Queensland Ballet. Vedel was previously ballet master at Royal Ballet of Flanders and a guest teacher at English National Ballet.

The RNZB has also announced that three new dancers are joining the company. They are Arata Miyagawa, who trained at the John-Cranko School in Stuttgart, performed with the Stanislavski Ballet in Russia and who won a silver medal at the 2012 Varna competition in Bulgaria, Laura Jones, who trained in Sydney with Christine Atkinson and at the New Zealand School of Dance, and Hayley Donnison, a graduate of the Australian Ballet School, who has become an apprentice.
