La Scala to tour to Australia in November

The Teatro alla Scala Ballet will tour to Australia in November, bringing Don Quixote and Giselle for its 12-day season at the Queensland Performing Art Centre in Brisbane.

La Scala will be the tenth company to take part in the annual QPAC International Series at QPAC.

The company will bring 75 dancers to Australia, among them La Scala’s principal dancers, Nicoletta Manni and Claudio Coviello and guest artists David Hallberg (American Ballet Theatre), Leonid Sarafanov (Mikhailovsky Theatre) and Maria Eichwald (Stuttgarter Ballett).

With luck they will also bring Manni’s partner, the Russian, Timofey Andrijashenko, who was appointed principal dancer of La Scala in February 2018.

The dates for Don Quixote are 7 to 11 and 17 November and for Giselle from 14 to 16 and 18 November.

Leonid Sarafanov will partner Nicoletta Manni in Don Quixote, and in Giselle, David Hallberg will partner Manni and Claudio Coviello with Maria Eichwald.

Meanwhile La Scala’s superstar, Roberto Bolle is unlikely to be dancing in Australia.

He has numerous commitments throughout 2018 in Italy, New York and London.
